Too busy to deep condition?

Our February box featured the Jamaican Black Castor Oil Strengthen and Restore Masque by Shea Moisture and our subscribers loved it! We recommend deep conditioning weekly.  I know sis, sitting around with a masque on your head probably isn’t something you want to spend your time doing every week especially if you’re as busy as we are. But trust me when I say your curls and kinks will thank you for it!

Here are three ways you can incorporate deep conditioning into your busy weekly routine:

  1. Deep condition whilst working out

If you’re all about that #fitlife this option is for you. Apply the Strengthen and Restore Masque to your hair in 4 sections and use a thermal cap or plastic bag to lock the moisture in. Then, start your workout. Whether you’re a HIIT girl, a squatter, or  yoga chick, burning those calories whilst conditioning your hair is a great hack. As you know, working out produces a lot of heat and this heat will allow the masque to penetrate the hair shaft.

  1. Deep condition on the go

Walking around with a masque on your head isn’t exactly a look so a lot of us tend to deep condition when we know we’ll be at home for a while. The only problem is that we’ve got places to be sis! If you know you’ve got some shopping to do or you’ve arranged a lunch date with the girls, apply your masque in sections as usual, cover your hair with a plastic bag or shower cap and then use a head wrap to mask your masque. A good head wrap can hide all sorts of hair secrets and will always transform your look. Using this method, you can go about your business and then rinse out the masque when you’re home and the day is done.

  1. Deep condition during your self care day

If you’re a #selfcaresunday kinda girl, why not apply the strengthen and restore masque to your hair after you apply your fave facemask? That way you’ll have your hair and face prepped for the week ahead! Of course, you’re welcome to keep the hair masque on your hair for hours but if your self care routine only allows you a spare 30 minutes, then that’s more than enough time for the masque to work its magic on your mane. Just remember, the best way to deep condition is with the help of heat so use heat if you can. You can use a hooded dryer or the old fashioned plastic bag and hair dryer hack. Either way, you’ll be in love with the results when you rinse the masque out!

 

Don’t think you’re restricted to choosing one out of the three suggestions above, I personally deep condition in all three situations to make sure my hair gets the TLC it needs no matter what I’m doing!
