Deep conditioning hacks using the Shea Moisture Weightless Deep Conditioner

We featured the Shea Moisture Weightless Deep Conditioner in our June box and you guys loved it! As you know, this product will have your hair feeling super soft and moisturised after one use.

The lightweight deep conditioning treatment instantly hydrates and reduces frizz by creating a protective sheathe around each hair cuticle to defend your kinks and curls from environmental stressors. The organic Shea Butter and Coconut Water blend with the fusion of Dragon Fruit, Lychee Berry and Green Apple Extracts will give your fro life!

Whilst the masque works great alone, sometimes your hair needs that little something extra so here are three ways you can give your hair some extra TLC using the Weightless Deep conditioner and some items that are already in your house.

  • Add protein to your Shea Moisture Weightless Deep Conditioner:

Do you find that your hair isn’t feeling as strong as it usually does? If it’s feeling weak or limp you may need a protein top up. You can test the protein levels in your hair using the method below:

Take a strand of your hair, wet it with water, then gently stretch it. If it returns to it’s original length without breaking, you have properly balanced moisture/protein levels. However, if it stretches more than it should and breaks, you probably need protein.

If you know that you need protein you can add an egg when deep conditioning. Eggs are packed with protein sis. Simply mix an egg with your weightless deep conditioner and apply the conditioner and egg mix to your hair in sections. Leave on for at least 30 minutes and then rinse thoroughly.

  • Add some extra moisture to your Shea Moisture Weightless Deep Conditioner:

If your hair is feeling drier than usual, you can add some extra moisture by adding certain ingredients to your weightless deep conditioner.

Here’s a list of ingredients that will do wonders for your mane and can be found around your house:

Extra Virgin Olive Oil- Now this stuff is great on salads but did you know that it’s just as good for your hair? EVOO has been used as a natural conditioner for centuries because it adds softness and strengthen hair by penetrating the hair shaft and retaining moisture.

Coconut Oil- Another one you can grab from your kitchen, this oil smells great and adds softness and shine to your hair. When it’s cold it solidifies so pop some in the microwave for a few seconds to melt the oil.

Honey- This liquid gold helps regulate and retain moisture in your hair as it is a natural humectant. It’s also known to strengthen hair follicles for healthy growth.

Just add any or all of the above to your weightless deep conditioner and leave the mix on for at least 30 minutes before rinsing thoroughly. Trust me girl, your dry hair’s going to thank you for it!

  • Steam Your hair with your Shea Moisture Weightless Deep Conditioner:

Hair steaming is amazing for your hair because the steam lifts the hair cuticle allowing your weightless deep conditioner to penetrate deeply into the hair shaft. The moist heat also encourages blood flow to circulate to your scalp which promotes hair growth. If you don’t have a steamer, we have another home made solution. You know the plastic bags you use to pack your groceries? Yeah those. Grab one once you’ve applied the weightless masque and use it to cover your hair. Once the plastic bag is secure, use a blow dryer over the bag to create the steaming effect.

Thank us later sis!
